SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The American Queen steamboat cruise was cut short after crews decided they couldn't dock in St. Louis due to not being able to pass under the Eads Bridge.

The boat instead stopped at the SEMO Port Authority on Saturday, where over 300 passengers got off and took their belongings on buses to Cape Girardeau.

The American Queen originally was set to finish up their trip at St. Louis.

After hearing of a towboat hitting the bridge and a man killed, along with high river levels, they decided it would be safer to dock in Scott County.

Crews on board say the ship will bring in new passengers on Sunday for their next cruise to Cincinnati.

On Friday, crews said the Ohio River had high river levels and were crossing their fingers going under a bridge at Cairo, IL that connects to Kentucky.

Video was taken going under the bridge where they had just 8 inches of clearance.

Crew members posted the video on YouTube, and you can view that video here.
