3 arrested in connection to Mt. Vernon shooting

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - Three people have been arrested after a Friday morning shooting in Mount Vernon that injured one man.

Braden Heck, 18, along with two minors, has been charged with mob action and aggravated battery.

It stems from a shooting on South 24th Street, where officers found a wounded Jerry Gill, 40.

Police say the investigation also led to the recovery of stolen guns and other property, taken from somewhere in Mount Vernon.

The names of the minors who were arrested are not being released.

Gill was transported to St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment.

Gill was shot while at 904 S. 24th Street, according to the Mt. Vernon Police Department.

Investigators searched the home and property.
