SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - A Benton, Missouri couple is accused of distributing prescription pain medication.

Michael Lee Caldwell, 58, was charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance.

Carol Jeanne Lively, 41, was charged with one count of distribution of a controlled substance.

According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, investigators started watching Caldwell after learning he was allegedly trying to sell his medication.

On July 15, investigators working undercover contacted Caldwell at his house.

Sheriff Walter said Caldwell sold the undercover investigators hydrocodone tablets. During this transaction, he said Caldwell offered to sell additional pain medication in exchange for a ride to an area pharmacy.

According to the sheriff, undercover investigators drove Caldwell and Lively to the pharmacy where they got their prescriptions.

After leaving the pharmacy, Lively allegedly sold 10 Soma tablets to the undercover investigators for $40, and gave them two additional tablets for giving them a ride.

When they returned to Benton, Caldwell and Lively were taken into custody without incident.

Lively's bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Caldwell's bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.

Sheriff Walter said Caldwell was also arrested on an active Scott County warrant for domestic assault. That bond was set at $2,500 cash only.
