Former IL DHS employee accused of taking more than $300K from department

ILLINOIS (KFVS) -

A former employee of the Illinois Department of Human Services is accused of stealing more than $300,000 from the department.

Debra Moore was charged with felony theft and official misconduct.

According to Illinois State Police, Moore was arrested on Wednesday, July 15 after an Illinois Office of Executive Inspector General investigation revealed that on at least three occasions between March 1, 2006 and July 14, 2013, Moore allegedly knowingly and intentionally took more than $300,000 from DHS.

Moore was taken to the Chicago Police Department where she was processed.

She appeared in the Cook County Circuit Court on Thursday and was held on $50,000 bond.
