Woman accused of lying to get prescription painkillers

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A McCracken County woman is accused of lying to get prescription painkillers from two area physicians.

Rebecca B. Harned, 31, was arrested on a warrant charging her with attempting to or getting a controlled substance by fraud, false statement or forgery.

According to Paducah police, a medical clinic called their prescription drug investigator to report that Harned had gotten hydrocodone from the clinic improperly.

The employee said Harned had been treated at the clinic in the past and had been referred to a specialist. They said she returned to the clinic, claiming that the specialist did not treat her and did not prescribe her any medications.

A nurse practitioner then prescribed Harned hydrocodone.

Later, police say the clinic's staff learned that the specialist had also prescribed Harned controlled substances.

Police took statements from those involved and presented the investigation to a McCracken County grand jury. The jury then indicted Harned.

Harned was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
