Man accused of breaking arm, force-feeding 5-month-old boy

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A Livingston County, Kentucky man is accused of injuring a five-month-old boy.

Cole B. Yates, 21, of Smithland, was charged with first degree criminal abuse.

Paducah police were called to an apartment in the 200 block of North 29th Street at about 8 a.m. on Saturday for a report of an infant with a broken arm.

The baby was taken by ambulance to a Paducah hospital and later transferred to a children's hospital in Louisville, Ky. Police say the baby had a broken arm, a cut behind one ear and an injury to his mouth.

During an interview, police say Yates admitted that he was frustrated and jerked the baby's arm. They say he also admitted to injuring the baby's ear, which required sutures, and injuring the baby's mouth with a bottle while allegedly trying to force-feed him.

Yates was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.
