PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A street in Paducah was shut down for a few hours Wednesday morning after a semi struck a railroad overpass and overturned.

Michael B. Jernigan, 31, of Symsonia was driving a 2006 Sterling truck and pulling a trailer owned by Estes Express when his trailer struck the railroad overpass on KY 731/32nd Street in Paducah just before 9 a.m., according to the Paducah Police Department.

This was on 32nd Street at KY 731 mile point 0.713 between Jefferson Street and US 60/Park Avenue in Paducah in the Harrison Street/Madison Street area, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The truck flipped onto its driver's side. Jernigan had to climb through the passenger side window to get out.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of apparent minor injuries.

The truck was hauling cigarettes and food items.

Canadian National Railroad has been alerted, as well as P&L Railroad.

KYTC bridge inspectors assisted with checking the overpass.
