IL juvenile detention center says goodbye to 9 yr. program

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

With no Illinois budget set for the 2016 fiscal year, it's causing one substance abuse treatment program to close its doors.

The meth treatment program will soon be out of money, starting on Wednesday.

The program, a part of Franklin County's Juvenile Detention Center, helps treat children in roughly 40 counties of Illinois who have a meth addiction.

Department leaders say they had generated funds to keep the program going until July 15, but because there's no budget set for the 2016 fiscal year, they say the program will cease to exist starting on Wednesday.

The closure will impact four employees and teens who were apart of the recovery program. It has been in place for the past nine years.

Juvenile department leaders say they hope to bring the program back if they're able to get the state funding.
