MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department reports alcohol might be to blame after one person was killed and another was injured during a motorcycle crash on Benton Road.

According to the sheriff's department, deputies were called to the area around 7:45 p.m. on Monday.

Don Wilkerson, 61, was driving with Kathleen Jarboe, 48, at the time of the crash.

Investigators believe Wilkerson's motorcycle left the right shoulder of the roadway and he was unable to regain control of the motorcycle.

Eventually, the bike collided with a resident's driveway culvert and then struck a tree before the bike completely stopped.

Both Wilkerson and Jarboe were thrown from the motorcycle and an investigation showed neither were wearing helmets at the time.

Wilkerson suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.

Jarboe died at the scene of the crash.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department reports alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the accident.

An investigation is still ongoing.
