It is July 14, 2015.

Weather Outlook:

There's no denying it is July. Expect even more heat than yesterday. Make sure to grab the sunscreen and drink a lot of water if you'll be working or playing outside since afternoon temperatures will likely reach the mid-90s. Heat advisories are in effect for parts of the Heartland. You will also want to keep the KFVS12 weather app handy since there's a small chance for thunderstorms.

Making Headlines:

Massive fire: Investigators are hoping to learn what sparked a huge fire that caused hundreds of explosions and thick black smoke at the Santie Wholesale Oil Company in Sikeston on Monday. This morning that fire is still smoldering.

Lethal Injection: A Missouri inmate is scheduled for execution in Bonne Terre today. David Zink, 55, was found guilty of abducting and killing a 19-year-old woman in 2001.

Traffic Headaches: Find a different route if you regularly take Rt. 146 through Ware, Il. Railroad repairs will closed the intersection at Rt. 3. In Marion, don't plan on using the northbound on and off ramps to I-57. Those lanes will be closed for repairs.

What's trending:

Survival "miracle": A 16-year-old girl survived a small plane crash in the rugged mountains  and then hiked through thick forest to reach safety.
