DEXTER, MO (KFVS) - A woman died in an early morning fire in Dexter on Monday.

Dexter Fire Chief Don Seymore says Lois Wells, 52, died in the fire.

Firefighters got called to a home on N. Poplar Street just before 1:30 a.m.

According to the Dexter Fire Chief, when firefighters arrived, the house was engulfed.

The state fire marshal has been called in to investigate. A cause for the fire has not been determined.

Seymore says the house was destroyed.

Crews stayed on scene for 11.5 hours.
