Kelly High School names new head football coach

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Lance Powers has been named the new head football coach for Kelly High School, according to district officials.

Scott County R-IV School District superintendent Fara Jones named Powers the new head coach in an emailed statement.

Powers was an assistant football coach at Kelly and has served as the head girls soccer coach according to Kelly athletic director Rhonda Ratledge.

Kelly's football program completed it's first varsity season last year..

Powers worked under former head coach Kenneth Riedinger who resigned several weeks ago. Riedinger says he and the administration were at odds about direction of the new football program.

"The district is focusing on our students and working with our parents and community to continue moving forward," Jones said. "We wish Mr. Riedinger and his family well."

Powers teaches P.E. as well.
