Kennett man arrested, facing assault charges

KENNETT, MO (KFVS) -

Police in Kennett have arrested and charged a man with criminal action after he allegedly attempted to shoot someone.

Demarkas L. Marsh, 32, of Kennett was taken into custody by Kennett police late Saturday evening.

At approximately 9:11 p.m. on Saturday, Kennett officers were dispatched to a gunshot victim at the Kennett Police Department.

While officers were on the way to the police station, they learned that the victim was not actually shot, but instead just shot at. 

The victim's vehicle was struck by gunfire. 

Officers were also told who the suspect was

Officers responded to the station while others responded to the suspect's residence.

A short time later officers arrested Marsh at his residence on Floyd Street.

Marsh was interviewed and gave a confession to officers investigating the crime.

Officials learned the actual shooting occurred in the 1700 block of Russell Street.

Officers responded there and more evidence was collected.

Marsh was incarcerated in the Dunklin County Jail with charges of assault and armed criminal action, pending from the State Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
