One killed, three injured in Iron Co. crash

IRON COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A man from Potosi has died due to a car accident in Iron County on Friday that injured three others.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Neil R. Blankmann, 27, died when the car he was in was hit head-on.

Officials say Elmer J. Winingar, 46, of Caledonia, Mo., was on MO 32 when he attempted to overtake another vehicle.

Winingar then struck a vehicle driven by Tyler J. Peterson, 29, also from Potosi, head on.

In the car with Peterson was Lawrence S. Murphy, 47, of Belleview, Mo., and Blankmann.

Winingar, Murphy and Peterson were taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, Mo.

Blankmann was pronounced dead at the scene.
