McCracken Co. man 'blacks out' while driving, knocks over telephone pole

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Traffic was reduced on US 68 in McCracken County Thursday morning after a man hit a utility pole.

On Thursday, at approximately 9:42 a.m., McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of a single vehicle collision on US 68 near Southern Pride Truck Stop.
 
The investigation concluded that James Pearson, 64, of Calvert City, was eastbound on US68. 

Pearson stated that he believed that he blacked out. 

At that time, the 1999 GMC truck Pearson was in control of left the roadway and struck a power pole. 

Pearson was transported by Mercy Regional to Lourdes Hospital as a precautionary measure. 

US 68 in the 7000 block was reduced to one lane while power crews replaced the damaged pole. 

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted on scene by Reidland Farley Fire/Rescue, Mercy Regional, McCracken County DES, Randy’s Towing, and Jackson Purchase Energy.
