17-year-old accused of stealing vehicle in McCracken Co.

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A 17-year-old is accused of stealing a vehicle early on Tuesday morning.

The teen was arrested on vehicle theft charges.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, at about 3 a.m. a resident in the 3200 block of Cairo Road reported their 2002 Chevrolet Malibu was stolen from the home.

At round 8:45 a.m., Sheriff Jon Hayden said the owner of the stolen vehicle happened to see it on Woodville Road near the Hobbs Road intersection. He said the owner called 911 and continued to follow the vehicle until deputies could get to the location.

Deputies stopped the vehicle at the Old Hobbs Road and Hobbs Road intersection, near the Department of Energy Plant, in Kevil at around 8:50 a.m.

The teen was arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center.
