Stand-alone gaming banned from Carbondale's downtown

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

The Carbondale city council voted to restrict issuing "stand-alone" video gaming licenses for establishments in the city's primary business district at the regular city council meeting on June 30.

B3 liquor licenses are issued for businesses that make more than 51 percent of its' revenue through video gaming machines.

Council members agreed they did not want those types of establishments in the city's primary business district (BPR) which stretches along US-51 between Grand Avenue and Oak Street.

The city has issued two of those licenses already and two are pending.

The full proposal and amendment can be viewed on the City of Carbondale's website.
