Man remains hospitalized after 2-vehicle crash on Paducah overpass

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A Paducah, Kentucky man remains hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash on Friday night, July 3 on the Beltline overpass.

Witnesses told police that a 2003 Nissan Murano, driven by 20-year-old Ma'ken A. Smith, was going south when it suddenly crossed the center line and hit a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier head-on.

The Cavalier was driven by 35-year-old Matthew J. Terpstra.

Police say Terpstra had to be removed from the car by firefighters.

He and Smith were taken to an area hospital. Terpstra was later transferred to a Nashville, Tenn. hospital where he was listed in stable condition on Monday morning.

Police say the Beltline overpass was shut down for some time while the crash was reconstructed.
