Residents impacted by lingering flood waters in McClure, IL

MCCLURE, IL (KFVS) -

Flooding from the Mississippi River is not only affecting communities along the river but more inland communities as well.

McClure has had a bit of flooding issues of its own. Some flooded streets are impacting several families.

A lot of the flooding has been on Bridge Street and Second Street. These streets are nearby a creek that runs through the middle of the village. The creek is swollen and connected to the Mississippi River.

While the river continues to drop, McClure residents are still feeling the effects. Residents can't get to their homes by car on Second Street and have to use a boat or walk through it wearing waders.

Residents say they wish more could be done in the community to help drain the water and prevent water from entering the area when flooding.
