Pedestrian killed after struck by vehicle on I-24

LYON COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A Minnesota woman was killed after she was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 24 early Monday morning.

Kentucky State Police say Julie Marie Reimann, 50, of McGregor, Minn. was traveling with family from Florida to Missouri when they stopped on the shoulder of I-24 at the 34.5 mile marker. The crash happened between the weigh station and the Cumberland River Bridge.

Reimann tried to walk across the interstate when she was struck by a westbound vehicle driven by a Calvert City, Ky. woman, according to KSP.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lyon County coroner.

Both westbound lanes were blocked to allow a crash reconstruction investigation, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

KSP was assisted at the scene by Lyon County Sheriff Department, Lyon County EMS, Lyon County Rescue, Kuttawa Fire Department and Eddyville Fire Department. The investigation is continuing by Collision Reconstructionist, Trooper Eric Fields.
