Illinois county fairs could lose state funding

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Director of the Jefferson County fair Steve Norris said that may mean an end to a fair that's happened for more than 30 years.

“If we do not get reimbursed, we are going to be in bad shape for next year," Norris said. “

Norris said over the past several year the Jefferson County Fair has lost about 30 percent of its funding from the state.

“We’ll have to come up with a new plan of some sort if we’re going to have any kind of youth fair," Norris said. ”We’ve got a lot of kids that look forward to it.”

Norris said the Jefferson County Fair will go on as usual and fair organizers will have to hope for a reimbursement.
