(KFVS) - Southeast Missouri State University's Autism Center for Diagnosis and Treatment hosts Camp Connect this summer.
The camp is a three week long event for children with autism. The goal of the camp is to improve the social and communication skills of the children.
All children are accompanied by a Southeast Missouri State University student pursuing a certificate or minor in Autism Studies.
Each child can create flower pots, t-shirts, picture frames, playing video games on the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, or play outside on the playground.
The events include life skills activities like outreach and social events reaching out into the community. Swimming and floating down the lazy river at Cape Splash, bowling at West Park Lanes and watching a motion picture at Wehrenberg Cape West 14 Cine are all apart of the camp.
