Two people drown on Kentucky Lake on Saturday

KENTUCKY LAKE, KY -

Two separate incidents on Kentucky Lake resulted in the death of a 17 year old boy and a California woman.

According to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Captain Garry Clark, the first incident happened around 1 p.m. in the Cypress Bay area.

The woman was on a house boat with friends.

She apparently slipped on an inner tube and fell into the water.

Friends realized shortly thereafter that she was gone and went to look for her.

After locating the woman, people tried to resuscitate her using CPR.She was then taken to a hospital in Henry County, TN where she was pronounced dead.

Later that day, a family was having a picnic at a shelter in the Kenlake area in Marshall County.

A 17 year old boy from Hopkinsville, KY tried to swim across the old beach area, about a 100 yards across.

The boy called for help and people went out to try to save him.

Clark says the boy drowned by the time anyone was able to get to him.
