1 person injured in three-car crash in Perry Co., IL

PERRY COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

One person was injured in a three-car crash outside of Du Quoin, IL on Friday when a vehicle failed to stop.

According to the Illinois State Police, Michael Allabastro, 36, Pinckneyville, IL, was driving southbound on US Route 51, south of Du Quoin, followed by Jaclyn Page, 29, New Douglas, IL and Jo Ann Siefert, 79, Du Quoin, IL.

Approximately one mile south of IL Route 14, Allabastro slowed to turn east into a private driveway.

Page also slowed to allow him to turn.

Siefert failed to reduce speed, and struck Page's car in the rear.

Page's car then struck Allabastro's car in the rear.

Siefert's car then left the roadway and then came to a stop after traveling through a barbed wire fence.

Siefert sustained minor injuries, and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Four children in the car with Page were treated as a precautionary measure.

All occupants were secured by seatbelts and a car seat.

Siefert has been charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
