SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A Sikeston man is behind bars, accused of beating his brother with a hammer.

According to the Scott County Sheriff, a deputy was called to 70-year-old Jerry Savat’s Sikeston home early Friday morning for a report of a fight.

When that deputy arrived, they found Savat’s brother had a head injury. His face and chest were reportedly covered in blood.

Savat told the deputy that he and his brother had gotten into an argument. He told the deputy that he “lost it” and hit his brother in the head with a hammer several times.

Savat is charged with 2nd degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.

He’s being held in the Scott County Jail on $25,000 bond.
