Poplar Bluff Police arrest man in connection to shoplifting case

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

The Poplar Bluff Police Department have arrested a man alleged to have stole $49.91 from the Walmart Neighborhood Market.

Matthew Johnson,33, of Poplar Bluff, surrendered himself at the Poplar Bluff Police Department.

Johnson was booked in on a charge of stealing, and he was released on bond. 

The police department reports the incident took place on Wednesday when a man and female were ringing up items at a self-checkout register.

Associates at the store told police the man did not scan all of the items in his cart.

As he left the store, an associate asked him if he had forgotten to scan the items. 

At that time, the man apparently ran off.
