McCracken Co. Sheriff's Dept. receives grant of nearly $20K

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department has received a state Law Enforcement Service Fee / DUI grant in the amount of $19,901.

The grant period runs July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.

The Department will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints and saturation patrols at various times and locations throughout McCracken County during that period.

The checkpoints will be set up at designated areas on highways and county roads where statistics have shown an elevated number of vehicle crashes and/or traffic violations.

During the checkpoints deputies will be enforcing laws related to operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, licensing of vehicles and operators, equipment violations, registration and insurance violations, seat belt and child restraints violations.

Criminal activity and other public safety issues that arise will also be addressed.
