MARION, IL (KFVS) - SIUC has been offering free dental care for children across southern Illinois.
It's through the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Dental Sealant Grant Program.
On Wednesday, senior dental hygiene students gave free teeth cleanings to children in Marion.
Fluoride treatments, cleanings and sealants are available for children between the ages of three to 17.
One parent said it's a tremendous help and allows her children to learn how to take care of their teeth.
"I know what that's like to not have that as a kid," parent Angela Beckstein said. "And just to get them a head start on it and get them going young so they can learn and grow from here."
The next free dental clinic will be on July 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Murphysboro Youth and Rec Center.
The last free dental clinic will also be in Murphysboro, Illinois from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Murphysboro High School, 50 Blackwood Drive.
