CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The United States Postal Service in Cape Girardeau hosted a Customer Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 1.
According to the post office, they held the event to show gratitude to the customers who visit the office every day.
Linda Bailiff, frequent customer of the office, says she is happy the post office decided to show appreciation for its customers and had some questions for them as well.
"This is a great resource to get the message out that the post office does care about it's community," Bailiff said. "I would like to also gain some information about what to expect for the future."
The post office has been the topic of discussion around talks of possibly closing some locations and distribution centers.
Bailiff says she is concerned about that and hopes it doesn't happen.
"It makes me feel uncomfortable about the postal workers themselves," Bailiff said. "I have friends that are postal carriers and for them to lose their jobs or having to move out of the area to keep their jobs is a huge concern of mine. Also, because of our day to day business and how we depend on the post office."
