IL Rt. 13 in Williamson Co. clear after semi overturned

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A semi hauling gravel overturned at the intersection of IL Rt. 13 west bound and IL rt 148 on Wednesday, July 1 at around 1:37 p.m.

According to Trooper Joey Watson with the Illinois State Police, all lanes reopened around 3:30 p.m.

Police say a white 2004 Mack truck hauling a gravel trailer was going north on Route 148 and was stopped at the red light at the intersection of Route 148 and Route 13. They say the truck was in the left-hand turn lane trying to turn west onto Route 13.

According to police, when the light turned green, the driver of the truck, 36-year-old William Browder, of Sesser, Ill., began to turn. As he made the left turn, the truck turned over onto its right side.

Police say the load of gravel spilled onto the westbound lanes of Route 13.

Route 13 West and Route 148 were closed for about two hours to allow for crews to clean up the gravel.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
