Same-sex marriage could be good for businesses

(KFVS) - Besides the billions of dollars expected to be spent on weddings nationwide over the next three years, legalizing gay marriage could mean more jobs.

A wedding videographer says he's excited about the opportunity to help capture moments of same-sex couples on their big day.

Right now, Jonathan Fritzler films 12 weddings each season and he expects that number to grow.

He says adding millions of potential candidates for marriage to the wedding market is nothing but good news for his business.

“At the end of the day, same sex marriage is going to be handled the same way," Fritzler said. "There is nothing about what we do differently, there is nothing that is going to be handled differently. It is the same process. At the end of the day, what I do is storytelling."

A study found the American wedding industry employs more than 800,000 people and brings in $51 billion annually.

An additional $2.5 billion is expected to flow into local economies.

Those numbers do not include the price of hotel rooms for wedding guests and how much guests spend on gifts.
