Know the laws on fireworks in Kentucky for Independence Day

KENTUCKY (KFVS) - This weekend hundreds of millions of Americans will be celebrating America's independence which is Saturday, July 4.

Kentucky state law prohibits the sale and purchase of fireworks by anyone under the age of 18 and anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Fireworks in Kentucky cannot be used within 200 feet of any structure, vehicle, or person.

The sale of fireworks by anyone under the age of 18 unless supervised by a parent or guardian.

While the state statutes allow the use of fireworks, the Kentucky State Fire Marshall suggests you inquire about your local, county, and municipal laws on fireworks as many governments have ordinances restricting the use of fireworks.
