Kayaker taken to jail after nearly drowning

RIPLEY COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a Poplar Bluff resident was arrested after being rescued from the Current River, one mile north of Doniphan.

Crash reports show Cody Martin, 21, was kayaking while under the influence of alcohol when he fell out of his boat.

The highway patrol reports a passing boater found Martin laying face down in the water and he was not breathing.

The boater pulled Martin to the shore and performed CPR on him.

Cody was revived and transported to the Doniphan City Jail.

According to the highway patrol, Martin is facing several charges including property damage, supplying alcohol to a minor, and no proper trash container in a vessel.

Martin is being held in the jail for 24 hours.
