Cape Girardeau hospital celebrates new expansion

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Dozens of employees, doctors and even church leaders celebrated a Cape Girardeau hospital's expansion on Friday, June 26.

The official ribbon cutting for the $127 million Saint Francis Hospital expansion happened on Friday evening, followed by an open house.

The Most Reverend James Johnston, Junior, bishop of the diocese, talked about his impressions of the expansion.

"First of all, this is a strikingly beautiful building, just to the eye," Johnston said. "But it is also beautiful once you get inside and realize the amazing technology and state of the art facilities that are inside."

Doctors and nurses will start moving patients into the new building on July 1.
