Jury finds man guilty of molesting 6-year-old in Cape Girardeau Co.

JACKSON, MO (KFVS) - A jury found a man guilty of two counts of child molestation in the first degree on Friday.

Brendon Max, 29, was found guilty of sexually molesting a girl who was six years old at the time. 

The victim initially reported the abuse to a family member, who then reported the abuse to the police. 

Testimonies of the now 7 year old victim, the victim's biological parents, Detective Davis, and Forensic Interviewer Jeffrey Schmitt were presented during the trial. The victim testified that the abuse occurred several times over a period of one year.

The jury panel consisted of nine men and three women, who found Brendon Max guilty after deliberating for one hour.

Max's sentencing is set for August 24, 2015. He faces up to 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections on each count.
