Weather cancels several outdoor Paducah area events

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Rain has cancelled events in the Paducah area for Friday.

An early afternoon storm that dumped heavy rains forced the cancellation of the Chris Smith Memorial at Paducah International Raceway. The event was scheduled for Friday, June 26.

In addition to the Hell Tour Late Models, the Summit Racing Equipment Modified National tour was also scheduled to be in action.

At this time, no reschedule date has been announced, though a race is likely to be added later this summer, much like last year.

The Paducah Parks Services Department cancelled Friday night's Concerts in the Park event at the Noble Park amphitheater due to the threat of severe weather.

Concerts in the Park is a partnership between the Parks Department and the Paducah Community Band to offer free Friday night concerts starting at 6:30 p.m. Weather-permitting, the concerts are held on Fridays through July 31 with the exception of July 3.

For more information, visit www.paducahky.gov, call 270-444-8508, or visit the Parks office located at 1400 H.C. Mathis Drive.
