HAMILTON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Strong storms moved through parts of Southern Illinois on Thursday evening.

According to McLeansboro Fire Department assistant fire chief Jim Morris, the city and county received around 20 calls about downed trees on vehicles and houses.

Strong winds also took down power lines in the area.

Morris said the storms also caused a small fire in the 700 block of North Pearl in McLeansboro.

According to Morris, an electrical line arced and caught the deck on the back of the  house on fire.

Morris reported it wasn't a serious fire and no one was injured.

At one point early Friday morning, nine counties were dealing with power outages.

As of 3 a.m., Ameren was working to restore power.
