18-year-old dies after accidental shooting in Sikeston

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

An 18-year-old man died after an accidental shooting in Sikeston Wednesday.

Sikeston DPS officers were called to a home at 304 Virginia Street around noon. 

They found Michael Evans Boyd III with a single gunshot wound to the stomach. 

Officers were told that somehow he accidentally shot himself while handling a firearm. 

He was taken to a local hospital where he later died. 

At this time, there is no evidence of foul play.

Police believe the shooting appears to have been an accidental shooting by the teen.
