(KFVS) - West Kentucky Community and Technical College was among 146 schools recently recognized for participating in the 2014-2015 Miami-Marquette Challenge.

Physical therapist and physical therapist assistant students from across the country raised $275, 423 to support physical therapy research.

The Miami-Marquette Challenge is the Foundation's signature annual fundraising effort, and 235 schools have participated in the Challenge since its inception in 1989, raising more than $3 million for physical therapy research.

This year's Challenge recipients were announced June 4 at the Foundation for Physical Therapy's Annual Gala in National Harbor, Maryland.

The PTA program at WKCTC is a two-year program that prepares individuals to become a skilled assistant working under the supervision of a physical therapist.

An associate degree in applied science degree is offered in this program.
