MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, residents have been receiving calls about a possible scam.
Residents reported they were contacted by someone representing themselves as a member of the U.S. Department of Treasury.
The sheriff's department reports those residents say the caller told them they have a delinquent tax bill and if it is not paid within a certain time period they will be arrested.
According to the sheriff's department, this is an attempted scam and untrue.
The U.S. Department of Treasury is aware of the scam and currently attempting to resolve it. The U.S. Department of Treasury requests to be contacted if anyone has given the scammers personal information or suffered monetary loss.
