Driver injured after motorcycle chase in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - One person is injured after a high speed motorcycle chase in Cape Girardeau Monday.

A Cape Girardeau police officer tried to pull over a motorcycle for speeding, but the motorcycle driver tried to drive away.

The officer stopped chasing the motorcycle after about two blocks because of safety reasons.

Around 3 p.m., Cape Girardeau police received a call that a motorcycle had crashed into a guardrail at the coroner of Lorimier and West Lorimier at the top of a hill.

The motorcycle and rider struck the guardrail causing extensive damage to the motorcycle. The bike slid under the guardrail and ended up in a heavily overgrown area beneath the guardrail.

One person was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

No charges have been filed but are pending after more investigation.
