CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Residents along a portion of Old Highway V in Cape Girardeau County can't access their homes due to the rising flood waters covering the road.

Residents are forced to use other means of transportation like boats and ATVs.

One resident says it's very inconvenient and says there are about five other homes along this stretch that are affected.

Some residents have found a path along the ridge to travel to their home by means of a four wheeler while others are having to use a boat.

Residents say the homes themselves are not affected, but travel is limited due to the water being several feet deep on the road.

One neighbor says he feels that in the past five years, the river seems to be rising more than in years past.
