FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Witnesses say a possible tornado formed and touched down in Franklin County, Illinois, just south of 149.

EMA Director Ryan Buckingham said one house was reportedly damaged, so far.

Near the corner of Pershing and Avery Roads in West Frankfort, there are pieces of the house scattered across the yard, including belongings from the family and a large portion of the home's roof.

Patricia Bacon and her three small children heard what they say sounded like a train approaching just after 4:30 p.m. and went to the basement. When they came out a short time later, the scene was devastating.

A clubhouse that was on the family's property was tossed on its back like a toy. Power lines were also taken out by trees and Ameren crews say people in the area are without power.

Emergency crews were still on scene on Friday night.

The fire department was waiting to lave until Ameren officials can contain a gas leak. They expect that project to be finished within the hour.

Fire officials do say the good news is no one was hurt and the home, which was insured, is the worst anything in the area was damaged.
