East Prairie man accused of stabbing another man during fight

EAST PRAIRIE, MO (KFVS) -

An East Prairie, Missouri man is accused of stabbing another man.

Barry Furgerson, 25, was charged with assault in the first degree and armed criminal action.

According to East Prairie police, on Thursday, June 18 at about 8:30 p.m., they responded to a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, they say they found a man with multiple cuts to his face and neck.

Police say the victim told them he was assaulted by Furgerson at the 300 block of Grand Ave.

According to police, they learned that a fight between the two men escalated and Furgerson allegedly grabbed an object and began stabbing the victim.

Police say the victim is in stable condition and was released from the hospital.

Furgerson is currently being held at the Mississippi County Detention Center with a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
