ILLINOIS (KFVS) - Illinois State Police District 13 announced the enforcement figures from the two-day officer on a train/UP Cares details.
On Tuesday, June 16 Illinois State Police, Union Pacific Railroad police and the Randolph County Sheriff's Department partnered to bring awareness to railroad safety for drivers and pedestrians.
This was conducted in Chester, Ill. on Water Street.
Enforcement actions included four citations for vehicular crossing violations and two warnings for vehicular crossing violations.
On Wednesday, June 17 ISP, UP railroad police, the Williamson County Sheriff's Department and the Marion Police Department partnered for a similar detail.
It was conducted in Marion, Ill. on the UP railroad line paralleling Illinois Route 37 between Illinois Route 13 and Boyton Street.
Enforcement actions included two pedestrian crossing citations, one pedestrian crossing warning, one pedestrian trespassing warning, three vehicular crossing citations, one vehicular crossing warning, one insurance citation and one seat belt warning.
ISP said these law enforcement partnerships were created in an effort to educate the public about grade crossing and pedestrian safety in relationship to railroads.
