IL man sentenced to 10 years for armed robbery of nursing home

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A Jefferson County, Illinois man has been sentenced to 10 years for the armed robbery of a Jonesboro, Illinois nursing home.

Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced on Wednesday, June 17 that Adam J. Trax, 32, of Bluford, Ill., was sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one count of armed robbery.

An investigation by the Union County Sheriff's Office showed that in the early morning hours of June 10, Trax, while armed with a knife, entered the front door of the Jonesboro Rehabilitation Center & Healthcare Center, located on State Route 127 South, and told employees to open locked containers of prescription drugs.

Trax left the facility with nearly $900 worth of drugs.

He was indicted by a Union County Grand Jury in September of 2013 and extradited from Pennsylvania in May of 2015 by the Union County Sheriff's Office.
