Sensory Safari to be held at Lazy L Safari Park

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Lazy L Safari Park in Cape Girardeau will be hosting Sensory Safari on Saturday, June 27 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Sensory Safari is an educational event specifically for special needs children and registration is not required.

Children can get up close and personal with many of the animals.

There will be a sensory touch and feel area so the kids can experience such thing as feathers, quills, eggs, antlers and more.

Information from local organizations and agencies will be available for all the parents at the event.

The regular zoo admission will include all activities except for rides and animal feed.

Camel rides will be offered with a spotter for only $5 and visitors can can also sign up for door prizes.

"We held our first Sensory Safari last year and it was a very successful event," Zoo Director Vicki Lantz said. "We wanted to bring it back again this year and we plan to hold more Sensory Safari events at the zoo throughout the year."
