Two Paducah teens arrested in connection with armed robbery, attempted robbery

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - Two Paducah teens have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery Sunday evening and an attempted robbery last night.

On June 14, an employee of the Gold Rush convenience store, located at 858 HC Mathis Drive, reported a robbery.

The employee told officers a black male subject had entered the store just before closing time and displayed a handgun while demanding money from the cash register.

The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and left.

Last night around 11:30 p.m. officers responded to Jimmy Johns, located at 414 Lone Oak Road, for the report of two suspicious persons.

Employees told officers two individuals had approached the front door of the restaurant wearing masks, but were not able to get in because the door had already been locked for closing.

Officer Nathan Young spotted two people matching the suspects' description a few blocks away.

While speaking to the two, identified as Brandon Reed and Aerion Jones, both 18, Officer Young located a BB gun, which had been altered to look more like a handgun, and a white t-shift on the ground nearby.

Officers also located a baggie of marijuana and a bottle of tequila.

During an interview with Detective Ryan Conn, both Jones and Reed admitted they had planned to rob Jimmy Johns, but were unsuccessful because the door was locked.

They further admitted their involvement in the Sunday night robbery of the Gold Rush convenience store.

Jones told Detective Conn he was the person who had went inside and committed the robbery and Reed admitted to acting as a lookout.

Reed also admitted to stealing the bottle of tequila from CVS just prior to the robbery attempt at Jimmy Johns.

Both were booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
