UNION COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Have you ever come out of the grocery store to find a cart has scratched your car? You want to keep your vehicle looking nice, but life happens and so do scratches to your paint job.
Maximum Strength Scratch-dini claims to magically remove scratches in seconds. A 4-ounce tube of Scratch-dini costs $10. The makers claim it will save you hundreds on repairs at the body shop, but Does it Work?
Newly licensed driver Drew McLane has a used truck that's new to her. She's made it her own by putting on new wheels and rims and adding a graphic. She inherited some scratches to the paint job, and she's made a few others on her own so she's hoping Scratch-dini will do the trick.
McLane applies Scratch-dini according to the instructions on the tube on three different scratches that vary in severity.
The first has a deeper scratch with several minor scratches on the tailgate. Scratch-dini makes the smaller scratches blend in a little better with the blue paint job, but doesn't make the scratches disappear like the product claims.
The second scratch, caused by her dog jumping out of the side of the truck, is still there, but is far less visible after McLane rubs in and wipes off the Scratch-dini.
Scratch three is a much larger gauge in the paint that McLane is pretty sure Scratch-dini won't touch. She's surprised when she applies the product and sees somewhat of a difference. The scratch is still there, but it blends in a little better with the rest of the paint.
Overall, McLane said Scratch-dini falls short of magic, but it might help your vehicle look a little better.
"If it's a light scratch that doesn't go all the way through the paint it really helps it,” McLane said. “But if it goes through the paint it's not going to make much of a difference.”
McLane gives Scratch-dini three stars on this Does It Work test.
