BENTON, IL (KFVS) -

Two Illinois lawmakers are co hosting a community shred day in hopes of helping people prevent identity theft.

State Representative John Bradley and State Senator Gary Forby will host it together.

The shred day will take place on Saturday, June 20 at the City of Benton Parking Lot at 104 E. Washington. It will run from 9 a.m. until noon.

People are welcome to bring any paper work they want to get rid of that contains sensitive information like social security numbers, bank statements, or old pay stubs.

It is free and open to everyone. There is a limit of two boxes per person. All paper clips, staples, or other bindings should be removed.
